In this study, we explored how incorporating discussions in the first language (L1) can improve second language (L2) reading comprehension. Our findings shed light on the efficacy of utilizing learners' L1 as a tool to deepen their understanding and foster meaningful engagement in L2 reading classrooms.

Between worlds: Two portraits of language knowledge, belonging, and cultural connection among Spanish heritage speakers

This study explores the personal narratives of two young adult Spanish heritage speakers outside educational settings. Their stories reveal how their language use and identity are shaped by emotional experiences, including hostile interactions and unsupportive environments, which often lead to distress and avoidance of using their heritage language.

The relationship between personality and success in language production tasks in pre-medical education

In this paper, we investigated the correlation between personality types and language learners' performance in academic writing and oral presentations. We found significant correlations between openness to experience and extraversion with writing and presentation.
